Learning Ambassadors and Children in Need – 19.11.21
Throughout the week, children have been preparing for the school council elections. They wrote their applications and gave their speeches to their classes.
These are the pupils who were elected as Learning Ambassadors on Friday, as chosen by their peers through a democratic vote. The children were really mature throughout the whole process and lots of thought and effort went into each and every application.
Their first task after being elected was to meet with Mrs Jennings, who will be working with them, to plan the events for Children in Need day on Friday 19th November. After lots of discussion, it was decided that we would support the event whilst also working on our reading and personal development skills.
The children decided on three events:
1. For £1, you may come to school dressed as someone from your chosen adult career. You may need your posh teacher clothes, it could be that you come in your sports gear to be a coach, may be you'll be a scientist so need to borrow your dad's shirt - it's what ever you want! We will research all about our chosen careers and create our own book about that profession.
2. What is the strangest place you can think of to read? To enter, give your teacher £1 and send them a photo (or print out if you prefer) of the most bizarre (but safe) place you can find to read your favourite book. The winner in each class will receive a book themed prize.
3. We will be having a book sale. The children decided that the books should cost 20p-£1, depending on size and quality.
We hope you will join us to raise as much money as possible for such a deserving cause.
Thank you,
Mrs Holness
